Why convert CSV to INSERT statements?

Distribution firms, textile units and ERP shops in Pakistan still move data between Excel and Oracle/SQL Server daily — supplier lists, price lists and stock takes. Writing INSERTs by hand is slow, and the classic failure is a value containing a comma or an apostrophe. This converter follows RFC 4180, so a cell like Doe, "John" & Sons survives intact, while apostrophes are doubled ('O''Brien') to stay legal in SQL.

For very large files it emits multiple batched INSERT statements so the output fits inside SQL*Plus, SSMS or your IDE's buffer. Always check the first statement against a test row before running a bulk load, and keep a backup of the raw CSV.

Frequently asked questions

Can this handle CSV fields with commas and quotes?

Yes — quoted fields keep embedded commas, newlines and escaped quotes (RFC 4180), so Excel copy-paste works without manual fixes.

How are empty cells and NULLs handled?

Empty cells become SQL NULL by default; switch the option off to emit empty strings instead.

Is the output safe against SQL injection?

Strings have quotes doubled and the table name is stripped to letters, digits and $, so pasted data cannot change the statement structure.

Why is my CSV split into several statements?

Datasets over 1,000 rows are chunked so each INSERT fits the buffer limits of SQL*Plus, SQL Developer and SSMS.
