Frequently asked questions
How does this speed test work?
The test downloads a ~25 MB file and uploads a ~5 MB payload from Cloudflare servers, measuring elapsed time to calculate throughput in Mbps. Latency is timed with a tiny zero-byte request.
Does the test use my data plan?
Yes. The test downloads and uploads several megabytes of data each run. On a metered mobile plan, run it sparingly.
Why is my result different from my plan speed?
Results depend on Wi-Fi vs wired connections, router limits, server distance, and what else is using your network. Browser tests are also slightly lower than raw line speed.
