Zakat Calculator
Calculate the Zakat due on cash, bank balances, gold, silver and business assets in rupees. Metal holdings are only charged once they reach nisab, and the PKR nisab value follows the current metal rate.
Cash and bank balances
Counted in full at 2.5%.
Gold

At 22K you need about 7.95 tola to reach nisab.
Silver
Zakat applies once the holding reaches 5,955g (510.55 tola).
Business assets
Stock on hand plus money owed to you, less what you owe.

How nisab is applied
Nisab is 85g of gold or 5955g of silver, measured in pure metal. Gold below nisab is not charged, and because nisab is a purity threshold, a 22K holding needs roughly 92.7g to qualify where 24K needs 85g. Once a holding qualifies, the whole amount is charged, not just the part above nisab.
Important limitation
This is an estimate based on the metal rates you enter. Zakat is due once per lunar year on wealth held for a full lunar year, and exemptions such as worn personal jewellery, a primary home and household items are not modelled. Confirm the final amount with a Zakat scholar.
Which assets are exempt?
Gold jewellery worn for personal use
Your primary residence
Household furniture, appliances and vehicles
Clothing and personal items beyond basic needs
Cash and bank balances
Business stock, cash and receivables
Gold and silver coins or bars held as investment
Idle wealth not put to productive use
Frequently asked questions
What is nisab in rupees?
Nisab is 85 grams of gold or 5955 grams of silver. In rupees it is whatever 85g of gold costs when you pay Zakat, so the PKR figure changes with the metal rate. This tool derives the PKR nisab from the current rate and uses the cheaper of the two thresholds.
Is Zakat due on gold and silver below nisab?
No. Nothing is due on a holding until it reaches nisab. Since nisab is measured in pure metal, a 22K holding needs more gross weight than 24K to qualify.
How is Zakat calculated on business assets?
Add stock on hand and money owed to you, subtract debts and liabilities, then take 2.5% of the net figure provided it reaches nisab.
When must Zakat be paid?
Once every lunar year on wealth held for a full lunar year. The lunar year is about 354 days, slightly shorter than 12 solar months.
