How do I create a Markdown table?

Add or remove rows and columns, type the cell values, choose an alignment for each column, then copy the generated Markdown table.

Can I import data from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Copy the cells and paste them as CSV or tab-separated text into the import box; the first row becomes the table header.

Does the generator handle pipes inside cells?

Yes. Pipe characters are escaped as \| and line breaks become so the table stays valid Markdown.

Markdown table syntax

A Markdown table uses pipes between cells and a divider row under the header. Colons in the divider set the alignment:

:--- left, :---: centre, ---: right, --- default.
Pipes inside a cell are escaped automatically, so the table stays valid.
The generated table works on GitHub, GitLab, Notion, Obsidian and most Markdown editors.
